Award-winning video content showcases Silverado’s ability to enrich the lives of memory-impaired residents and their families

July 29, 2014 – Silverado, a provider of memory care, hospice and at home care, is proud to announce that it is a Bronze winner in the 35th Annual Telly Awards for two inspiring online video segments; Silverado Through a Child's Eye and Silverado Resident Visits Space Shuttle Endeavor.

In Silverado Through a Child's Eye, seven-year-old Mia Sandoval shares her experience coming to work with her mom at Silverado Beverly Place, a memory care community in Los Angeles. The feel-good video highlights her role as the community’s "kid ambassador" – from helping residents find their rooms to taking newcomers on tours.

Silverado Resident Visits Space Shuttle Endeavor gives a glimpse into the life of retired Space Shuttle engineer Bob Wilmes, as told by his three daughters on a day the family visited the shuttle at the California Science Center. Today, Wilmes is unable to remember much of the history he helped shape. His daughter shares, “Since dad has Alzheimer’s, our hope was that the visit would help jumpstart some of his memories, and I could tell when he was focusing on the shuttle that there was a glimmer of recognition there.”

A panel of more than 500 accomplished industry professionals judge the competition, which includes nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries.

“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. “Silverado’s accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”
