OnSIP CTO to Present Optimizing WebRTC Development With SIP at Annual Telephony and VoIP Conference, ClueCon
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- John Riordan, Cofounder and CTO of OnSIP, will be presenting at FreeSWITCH’s 10th annual ClueCon Conference about designing and implementing WebRTC and SIP-based applications. Riordan’s talk will take place at 11 am CDT at the Intercontinental Chicago Hotel on August 5th and is especially relevant to telecommunications providers, as evidenced in HeavyReading’s recent report "WebRTC: Get Ready for the Next Telecom Revolution." Leveraging WebRTC in their geographically distributed SIP platform (patented), OnSIP now provides real-time communications services to over 25,000 businesses.
ClueCon is an annual telephony and voice over IP developers conference started in 2005 by the FreeSWITCH core developer team. FreeSWITCH, an open source communications software, was conceived at the first ClueCon as part of a large discussion between several open source leaders on how to improve the state of existing Internet telephony options.
“The FreeSWITCH community was fast to embrace WebRTC, which we are grateful for as FreeSWITCH is a key component in our platform architecture,” said Riordan. “While there has been some debate on the ‘best’ signaling protocol to use with WebRTC, we have found great benefits in leveraging SIP, an open, mature protocol. There were some initial hurdles, however, which I will discuss in my presentation. I am looking forward to ClueCon.”
This presentation follows the company’s announcement of The OnSIP Network, a geographically scaled cloud RTC platform. The OnSIP Network enables developers to quickly and easily build WebRTC applications without managing the signaling and media relay infrastructure necessary. Using a simple, open sourced API, SIP.js (http://sipjs.com), developers can easily access The OnSIP Network in their applications.
“The FreeSWITCH team is excited to have OnSIP involved in this year's ClueCon,” said Anthony Minessale, Director of Engineering CudaTEL at Barracuda Networks and Author of FreeSWITCH. “We've worked very closely with the engineers from OnSIP over the years, and it's always nice to get a chance to collaborate in person in an environment like ClueCon. We are always thrilled that FreeSWITCH can play a role in the success of the companies using it. Many great ideas are hatched at ClueCon, and this year should be no different.”
“We are also very happy that OnSIP has taken the initiative to work on the SIP.js project,” Minessale added. “We have a working demo of it on our test site: https://webrtc.freeswitch.org/sipjs/index.html”;
The OnSIP Network offering is now available and free of charge. Later in 2014, the company plans to roll out a pay-as-you-go pricing model for voice and video calling, user registrations, and messages on The OnSIP Network. However, a freemium offering will remain available to developers, and SIP.js will remain a fully supported, open source project.
