Chicago Web Development Firm Adage Technologies Launches Personalized Website for Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- Adage Technologies, a leading website and application development firm, is pleased to announce the successful launch of a new website for John G. Shedd Aquarium, one of the largest aquariums in the world and the most popular cultural destination in Chicago. The revamped website can be found at http://www.sheddaquarium.org.
Adage Technologies’ main objective for Shedd Aquarium’s new website was to help facilitate deeper connections with guests, many of whose first contact with the Aquarium is online.
Shedd’s mission is to connect people with the living world in order to inspire them to make a difference, so the site needed to showcase the power of the Aquarium’s vast collection of aquatic life and give guests new ways of interacting with a deep archive of photos, stories, research and more.
With a mutual focus on providing a higher level of guest service and furthering Shedd’s mission, the Adage team built a website that utilizes personalized communication, connects users with more engaging content and streamlines the ability for users to create custom itineraries for their trip using the new Plan a Visit site functionality. Plan a Visit walks users through building a trip itinerary prior to attending, which improves user experience on the site and in-person, improves foot traffic-flow at the Aquarium and gives users brand new ways to connect to the collection. The new site truly captures the essence of Shedd Aquarium.
“We were very excited to help Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium update its website to make it more user-friendly and reflective of the Aquarium’s overall mission,” Roy Chomko, president of Adage Technologies, said. “Visitors will be particularly happy with the more personal experience they’ll have on the site, as well as the site’s overall improved functionality.”
Thanks to the website’s new Plan a Visit path, each guest is able to build a rich, rewarding package to fit their unique needs and enjoy the experience for which Shedd Aquarium is celebrated. Users are guided through the path quickly and seamlessly, asked their preferences for dates and number of adults and children attending and empowered to build an itinerary of experiences like 4-D Experience screenings and the amazing One World aquatic show.
New purchase pathways on the site also allow guests to enhance their visit by purchasing Extraordinary Experiences like animal encounters, behind-the-scenes tours and ‘Trainer for a Day’ reservations.
All users are now able to purchase tickets directly on the website, but members can also see additional benefits by being able to update their information online. Through the “My Account” section, members can redeem benefits such as member-only offers, previews and incentives.
The content area of the new website is streamlined, easier to digest and much easier to update than before. The Shedd team can edit and move content directly within its custom EPiServer CMS and present content with new design elements like slideshows, social media call-outs and related content blocks. Now, feel and functionality match up with the liveliness of the aquarium’s long-standing brand promise.
“The new website does a great job showcasing Shedd’s collection and highlighting all the features that make a Shedd Aquarium experience so special,” Meghan Curran, vice president, marketing at Shedd Aquarium, said. “We were looking to build a site that truly embodied our mission and was convenient for both our guests and our team to use. The new site will ensure we are able to connect our guests with our collection through engaging content for years to come.”
