Mira shows an uptrend in self-published books over 2013

Book lovers do still patronize bookstores, both the online and brick-and-mortar variety. In fact, Mira Digital Publishing has printed over 500 books this year, with no signs of slowing down. This is actually an increase in book sales from last year. Jeff Charlton, owner, reports, “Digitally printed book sales are continuing at a steady pace, with a bit of an uptrend since last year. We thought the increase in the ebook market would cut into printed book sales, but thus far we have not seen that happen. Instead, clients are getting both a printed book and an ebook.”

Charlton continues, “When you think about this logically, if a person takes a year or more to write a book, there is a lot of pride involved in that effort. Most people who fall into the self-publisher category would like to have an actual printed book that they can show their friends and family and display on a bookshelf. An ebook just does not have the same impact. We see printed book sales to be a staple of our business for years to come."
