First Community Credit Union, the Houston Texans and Brian Cushing Honor Ten Deserving Teachers Through Their Annual “Stars in the Classroom” Program
Houston, TX (PRWEB) August 06, 2014 -- First Community Credit Union and the Houston Texans have teamed up for their fourth annual “Stars in the Classroom” program. The program kicks off on August 18th when students can begin nominating teachers who go above and beyond in the classroom. All of the winning and deserving teachers will be awarded an autographed Brian Cushing jersey as well as two tickets and sideline passes to a Houston Texans home game! In addition, a $500 donation will be made to their school district and Cushing or one of his teammates will pay a visit to their classroom. The nominating student will receive an autographed Houston Texans football. The classroom appearances will begin in early September.
“Houston is fortunate to have strong teachers that help students realize their potential and reach their goals,” First Community Credit Union President and CEO Ron Downing said.
The “Stars in the Classroom” program will honor ten exemplary teachers and the positive impact they make on their students’ futures. Brian Cushing recognizes the importance of first rate teachers and is excited to continue his participation in the “Stars in the Classroom” program. The Texans starting linebacker states, “I’ve had many outstanding teachers, not only in college, but in other phases of my life, that have helped mold me into the person I am today.” This is a link for the Stars in the Classroom video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWh8RI4MF4o&feature=youtu.be.
Teachers are nominated by students who submit a short essay on why their teachers are deserving. There will also be a banquet held at NRG Stadium in early 2015 to recognize each of the winning teachers. For details on how to nominate a teacher, go to texanschecking.com.
