Danielle Supkis Cheek Selected as a Subject Matter Expert for Rice’s OwlSpark
Houston, TX (PRWEB) August 01, 2014 -- Danielle Supkis Cheek, CPA, CFE, CVA, was selected as an accounting subject matter expert for Rice University’s entrepreneurship accelerator, OwlSpark. Started in 2013 by Rice University students, the OwlSpark program allows Rice students, staff, and recent alumni to gain valuable experience as entrepreneurs and the opportunity to convert their ideas into reality.
In her role as a featured advisor and based on her experiences as a successful entrepreneur herself, Danielle delivered a well-received presentation on the basics of accounting, the accounting needs for start-up businesses, and how to read financial statements. One participant said that it was “the best SME (subject matter expert) speech we have had. Per Kerri Smith, Managing Director, Owl Spark “I never thought I would say this, but you made accounting fun.”
The Bayou Startup Showcase featuring the teams from OwlSpark and University of Houston’s RED Labs will take place on August 14, 2014 from 2pm to 7pm at McNair Hall, Rice University.
Danielle looks forward to continuing her involvement with this valuable program and others to help startups and other small to medium sized businesses in the greater Houston area.
