Bright Kids NYC is Now Offering SHSAT Test Preparation
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 04, 2014 -- The high school admissions process can be intense for many families throughout New York City. Students in grades 8 or 9 who wish to apply to New York's City's Specialized High Schools must take the Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT). New York City has nine Specialized High Schools that meet the needs of gifted students. Eight of the nine Specialized High Schools base their admissions soley on SHSAT scores.
The Bright Kids SHSAT Tutoring Options are schedule-friendly packages designed to prepare students for the upcoming SHSAT. The SHSAT 1-on-1 Admission Package includes an initial diagnostic, tutoring sessions ranging from 5 to 20 sessions and session progress reports. The package can be in-home or in-office and scheduled Monday through Sunday between 8:00am-8:00pm.
For families that value convenience and privacy the SHSAT 1-on-1 Tutoring program is another great option. There are no minimum sessions required, at-home or in-office, and session reports are provided for parents to keep track of their child's progress. Areas served include Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and certain sections of Long Island, Staten Island and north New Jersey.
The SHSAT is a written exam consisting of two sections, Verbal and Math. On the verbal section there are 30 Reading Comprehension questions, 10 Logical Reasoning questions and 5 Scrambled Paragraph questions. The math section includes 50 questions, including both computational and word questions, covering arithmetic, algebra, probability, statistics, and geometry. The 9th grade exam also includes questions involving trigonometry.
