ACT Foundation Redefines the American Dream within a National Learning Economy
Austin, TX (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- ACT Foundation today released its inaugural publication, "National. Learning. Economy. The NEW American Dream", which describes the foundation’s vision and initial investments to help America’s working learners achieve greater life satisfaction and economic security. In the wake of last week’s signing of new workforce investment legislation by President Obama, and amidst renewed focus on job training by manufacturers and businesses nationwide, the vision paper builds on the current push for a more skilled workforce to include a living, learning, and working philosophy amidst a “national learning economy” that supports and sustains working learners.
ACT Foundation’s vision of a national learning economy is grounded in the premise that life can be richer and fuller for every person, with opportunity for each according to ability and achievement. This is the promise of the American Dream, and as our national economy evolves in the performance era, individuals who seek learning opportunities to improve their living, learning, and working lives should be recognized and rewarded for the value they bring to the workplace.
In addition, America’s business leaders must come together to clarify and voice their workforce needs to help bridge the gap between the learning and working worlds. ACT Foundation is working with national business partners, policy makers, learning technology innovators, and philanthropic organizations to broker breakthrough solutions that meet those needs. The details of these investments, along with analyses of megatrends shaping our economic environment and the conditions necessary for a national learning economy to flourish, are all discussed in this first publication from ACT Foundation.
