i2i Systems announced today it was selected by North Carolina-based SAS Institute Inc. (SAS) to provide a robust patient referral database for its employee Health Care Center (HCC).

SAS is one of the largest independent software companies in the world, employing approximately 13,600 people worldwide. More than 40,000 patients are seen annually in its on-site HCC in Cary, North Carolina.

In addition to delivering primary care, providers at the SAS HCC refer patients for consultations with specialists as well as for screening and diagnostic tests. With the number of patients growing by three to five percent annually and the complexity of their care increasing, the SAS HCC needed to streamline its patient referral process.
