i2i Systems announced today it was selected by North Carolina-based SAS Institute Inc. (SAS) to provide a robust patient referral database for its employee Health Care Center (HCC).

SAS is one of the largest independent software companies in the world, employing approximately 13,600 people worldwide. More than 40,000 patients are seen annually in its on-site HCC in Cary, North Carolina.

In addition to delivering primary care, providers at the SAS HCC refer patients for consultations with specialists as well as for screening and diagnostic tests. With the number of patients growing by three to five percent annually and the complexity of their care increasing, the SAS HCC needed to streamline its patient referral process.
“We wanted a vendor that could do more than just implement a patient referral system,” said Gale Adcock, SAS Chief Health Officer. “We wanted to create efficiencies in referral tracking, decrease potential for overlooking a significant result and ensure completion of the referral process. This is what we found with i2i Systems.”

For SAS, i2i Systems will implement its flagship product, i2iTracks, the leading population health management system, used by more than 1,000 healthcare facilities nationwide. By integrating with existing electronic health records, practice management and other systems, i2iTracks provides unprecedented access to existing data for an entire patient population, enabling clinicians to proactively, rather than reactively, manage patients.

This results in improved staff efficiency and better clinical outcomes through efficient data collection, robust reporting and analysis that create a sustainable culture of quality improvement. Additionally, using i2iTracks, SAS expects to be able to deliver an even better patient experience for its employees.

“We are excited to be working with such a forward-thinking organization as SAS, who truly cares about the health of its employees,” said Janice Nicholson, president and chief executive of i2i Systems. “Having the ability to drill down into the patient data and put comparative metrics on patient health and clinical performance into the hands of the care team will truly enable them to take action to support their employees’ health.”
