Oxford City Football Club, Inc. (OTCQB:OXFC) CEO Thomas Anthony Guerriero, new owner of the Texas Professional Indoor Team in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL), officially announced the signing of Chris "Topper" Cogan.
Oxford City FC in conjunction with Ford Park will be holding a press conference on Thursday July 31st, 2014 at 10AM at Ford Park in Beaumont, Texas, where the professional indoor soccer team will play its home games. Guerriero stated, "We are confident in Coach Cogan and we are looking forward to working closely with him to bring exciting entertainment and a MASL Championship to Beaumont, Texas."
About Coach Cogan
Coach Cogan is entering his third season as a coach in Texas, having coached the Texas Strikers in Beaumont, Texas for the entirety of their existence. Cogan is a native of Lubbock, Texas but played NCAA Division I soccer as a goalkeeper at Houston Baptist University where he holds records for wins in a season, shutouts in a row and shutouts in a season. Following his time at HBU, Cogan played briefly in Mexico and with the Houston Express in the Southwest Indoor Soccer League. After moving back to Lubbock, Cogan played with the Lubbock Lazers, the Lubbock SandDevils, and the Rockford Rampage. With the Lubbock SandDevils Cogan served as the General Manager, taking them to 4 consecutive National Indoor Soccer Finals Tournaments. While not on the field as a player, Cogan developed as a coach. He began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at NCAA Division I Texas Tech University. He was promoted to a full time assistant at Texas Tech University where he remained for four years. He has also had coaching stints at Angelo State University, Sam Houston State University and is currently on staff at Lamar University.
Cogan has a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters of Science in Sport Psychology from Texas Tech University and has had his U.S. Soccer National “A” License since 2009. In addition, he has worked as a staff coach at Texas A&M and University of Notre Dame soccer camps. He brings a wealth of indoor and outdoor coaching knowledge to Beaumont along with a motivational attitude that players have enjoyed at each of his stops coaching stints.
