Tariq Drabu Welcomes Counterfeit Initiative by BDIA in 2014

Tariq Drabu said “As dental professionals we stay away from substandard and counterfeit instruments to ensure the safety of our patients, but they are readily available, so it’s welcome news that the BDIA are introducing a Counterfeit and Substandard Instrument Initiative.”

Tariq Drabu in Manchester said “The BDIA (British Dentistry Industry Association) has announced a launch of a counterfeit and substandard instrument and device initiative in 2013 to reduce illegal dental instruments within the United Kingdom. This is great news and can help promote awareness in dental surgeries, enable dental professionals to report counterfeit goods purchased online and ensure that professionals choose BDIA approved suppliers when purchasing instruments and devices their surgeries.”

Tariq Drabu went on to say “The internet is brimming with products that dental professionals can purchase online and with busy schedules, it’s so easy to hop onto the internet and buy an instrument, but when it arrives it may not be the quality expected. This is because the internet is brimming with poor quality and illegal items and when working with patients on a daily basis, it’s imperative that only the highest quality instruments and devices are used to avoid endangering the patient.”

Tariq Drabu closed in saying “At Langley Dental Practice we ensure that all the products we purchase are from reputable suppliers because it’s so easy to get caught out by an illegal item. I think it is fantastic that the BDIA are going to make reporting so easy, enabling dental professionals who have been caught out to report where they purchased the items from, eliminating them from surgeries throughout the country.”
