Austin, Texas (PRWEB) August 04, 2014
The law firm of Hissey Kientz, LLP is announcing the launch of its new website, Metal Hip Replacement News (http://www.metalhipreplacementnews.com). The site will serve as a source for news and legal information for patients and their families who have experienced complications from DePuy, Stryker, Wright and other metal hip replacement devices.
DuPuy Orthopaedics and its parent company, Johnson & Johnson, issued a recall of the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular System and ASR Hip Resurfacing System hip implants in August 2010 due to an increased rate of revision surgery. There are currently over 12,000 lawsuits against DePuy Orthopaedics alleging that the hip replacements caused complications such as metal poisoning, fretting, corrosion and hip implant fractures.*
Stryker Corporation issued a voluntary recall of the Stryker Rejuvenate and Stryker ABG II hip replacement systems in July 2012 after the hip implants were allegedly linked to serious complications including fretting, corrosion, metallosis, hip dislocation and fractures.**
According to court records, over 600 cases are currently pending in Stryker hip litigation. A court order filed in March 2014 states that the first cases in the Stryker multidistrict litigation will be ready for trial during the summer of 2015. (MDL 2441, U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota)
Wright Medical Technology, Inc. is also facing hip replacement lawsuits for its Conserve and Profemur metal-on-metal hip implants. Patients filing lawsuits claim that Wright manufactured defective metal on metal hip implants that led to severe complications from the hip device such as tissue inflammation, infection, hip implant loosening and metallosis. ***
Over 70 Wright hip replacement lawsuits are currently consolidated in a multidistrict litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. (In re: Wright Medical Technology, Inc., Conserve Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2329)
Patients who have experienced metal poisoning, fractures, or implant dislocation from a metal hip replacement system may wish to speak with a lawyer to find out if they are eligible to file a lawsuit.
