Oregon State Launches New Online Master’s Program in Engineering Management
Corvallis, OR (PRWEB) August 01, 2014 -- Engineering professionals who want to take on leadership roles can now earn a Master of Engineering degree online from Oregon State University that is focused on engineering management.
The new program is offered by faculty in OSU’s School of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (MIME) and delivered online by OSU Ecampus, a national leader in online education.
“Our program was developed by engineers for engineers with an in-depth understanding of the type of situations and knowledge our students will need to take on leadership roles within our industry,” said Rob Stone, head of OSU’s School of MIME.
This 45-credit online master’s program is much like an MBA, but the course work is geared toward engineers and STEM-related professionals. The curriculum is focused on project-related work that builds technical skills as well as necessary communication, management and organizational skills highly sought after in the job market.
Course topics include project management, systems engineering, strategic planning, operations management, ethics and risk management.
“One of the strengths of this program is the background of our faculty,” said Stone. “All hold a Ph.D. and/or an MBA with management experience, and all conduct research that consistently involves collaboration within the industry.”
