Noel Fisher sits down with AfterBuzz TV hosts Kelly McInerney and Joyce Ajouri to promote his new film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In the movie he plays Michelangelo, the comedy relief of the four brothers, a type of role which is fairly new to him. “It's easier when you're playing a character like Mikey, he's flippant,” Fisher explains. “That was really fun for me, it was nice to delve into that.” Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was filmed with performance capture and he said how funny it was walking down the streets of New York wearing the sensors on their faces. “I was always surprised by the lack of interest by New Yorkers,” Fisher laughs.
Fisher also discusses portraying Mickey on Showtime's Shameless who is a character in a gay relationship. “He's not a gay person, he's a person who happens to be gay and there's a funny distinction but I think it's kind of an important one.” Fisher goes on to say, “It's not any different from playing another character.”
Mickey is a dark and troubled character very unlike Fisher in real life but diving into that role was made easier thanks to the writing of the show.
Fisher has a career than spans film and television. He explains how different they are and what it is he enjoys about each. As for preference? He doesn't have one. “I just hope I continue to do both,” he says, “It's been a good road so far.”
