Dr. Jane's Compatibility Meter—New iPhone App from Rosen Grandon Associates Goes Beyond Dating to Measure the Chances of a Successful Long-Term Relationship
Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) August 05, 2014 -- Dr. Jane's Compatibility Meter™ is a scientifically validated relationship assessment that measures two people’s level of overall compatibility. Within a few minutes, a couple can share the assessment on an iPhone, rating themselves on a series of carefully selected questions centering on three primary factors—love, loyalty, and shared family values—then review and save a profile showing their mutual compatibility score. The scores can also be e-mailed directly from the app.
Dr. Jane’s Compatibility Meter is available for download from the iPhone App Store for $1.99 for unlimited use.
The app features retro heart-shaped gauges, whose analog-style needles point into the red for degrees of difference, and into the green for degrees of similarity between individuals. Couples receive an overall compatibility score and three more compatibility ratings. Differences are graphically depicted with easy-to-read heart graphs. When completed, the couple has an accurate score of their compatibility based on levels of importance for factors proven to predict success in long-term relationships. Couples may decide to continue their relationship or move on, but either way, it’s designed to facilitate healthy conversations about their similarities and differences and perhaps improve their relationship.
With its whimsical name and user interface, Dr. Jane’s Compatibility Meter is fun and easy to use, but it’s a true psychological instrument, backed by peer-reviewed data and clinical use.
The app is based on the work of its namesake, Jane Rosen-Grandon, Ph.D., a marriage and family therapist. Rosen-Grandon is author of the CHARISMA™ marital satisfaction inventory, which she uses in her counseling practice and licenses to other therapists. The CHARISMA test is scientifically validated and the research has been published in the Journal of Counseling and Development.
Rosen-Grandon’s husband, Gary Grandon, Ph.D., with some 40 years experience in computer science and educational psychology, designed and programmed the application.
The Rosen Grandons were married in 1974 and are their own empirical evidence: they’ve worked together for four decades in their firm, Rosen Grandon Associates, Inc., and they continue to score highly on Dr. Jane’s Compatibility Meter. But Rosen-Grandon points to the broader normative data and science that supports the couple’s iPhone app.
“The CHARISMA Inventory was administered to 201 married individuals and found to have acceptable reliability and validity, as well as clinical utility in helping couples examine their relationship values and priorities,” says Rosen-Grandon.
For the app version, Dr. Jane’s Compatibility Meter, Rosen-Grandon has simplified the survey into 10-question and 18-question versions while maintaining its scientific integrity. She explains that this formula for relationship success begins with love, loyalty, and shared family values. These characteristics form the backbone of the relationship. Dr. Jane's Compatibility Meter helps identify similarities and differences which will matter increasingly over time.
“The research demonstrates that while love is important, love is not enough," says Rosen-Grandon. “Even when both partners are satisfied with love, if they can’t trust each other when their backs are turned, it's unlikely that they will achieve long-term relationship satisfaction. Loyalty is huge."
