Midroll Media Names Erik Diehn as Vice President of Business Development
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 03, 2014 -- Midroll Media has named Erik Diehn, an experienced media executive with a track record of building and growing digital media properties, to the newly created role of Vice President of Business Development. He joins Midroll Media from New York Public Radio where he was the Senior Director of Business Development. Diehn will work closely with the senior management team to grow Midroll Media's roster of podcasts and increase distribution, while pursuing new ventures.
This new position was created to grow the business development responsibilities previously fulfilled by founding CEO Jeff Ullrich, who stepped into the Chairman role in June. Diehn will recruit and sign high-quality podcasts for representation to advertisers, forge new relationships with strong content brands, and identify and develop fresh talent for owned-and-operated programs.
"We are delighted to add Erik to our team," said Adam Sachs, CEO of Midroll Media. "His experience in audio content is complemented by his accomplishments in creating new media products in both the consumer and B2B spaces. At Midroll Media we produce category-leading owned and operated podcasts, and we match advertisers with a growing network of some of the most well-known podcasts anywhere. Erik's unique accomplishments make him a great fit for advancing our mission of creating and supporting unique and outstanding digital programming."
Diehn brings with him a strong record of identifying and developing new business initiatives at the intersection of traditional and new media. At New York Public Radio he worked with and advised the Board of Directors and senior management on strategic planning, and headed up digital and terrestrial distribution for national programming.
Prior to New York Public Radio he worked in the Cross-Platform Strategy team at Bloomberg, LP, where he guided the launch of a new suite of data visualization products, and he was a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group. Diehn also served as a key member of the product launch team at MTV Networks’ digital music service and, as head of web development at Marvel Entertainment, re-launched Marvel.com and transformed it into an editorial destination site.
"I was drawn to Midroll Media because it’s grown into a top brand in broadcasting in a remarkably short time," Diehn said. "Both sides of the business -- the portfolio of owned & operated podcasts under the Earwolf brand and the advertising sales arm -- are breaking new ground in creating an audio-first, digitally native media company. I’m incredibly excited to join the team to continue this growth and build on the strong foundation that Jeff, Adam and the Midroll Media team have built."
Diehn begins his new position immediately.
