Ormet Plant Future is Now in the Hands of Developer
Hannibal, Ohio (PRWEB) August 04, 2014 -- NIAGARA Worldwide LLC has positioned its international development staff on the 1700 acre site of the former Ormet Plant in the industrial town of Hannibal, Ohio with a clear path toward repurposing. “We are talking to the World,” says Eric J Spirtas, President of both Niagara Worldwide (site developer) and Hannibal Development Partners (the new site owner). “In an effort to determine global interest in this specialized facility, we are communicating with every aluminum related business group worldwide to share with them what sets here in Hannibal.”
Spirtas explains that while there is not a simple switch to throw that begins the daily output of 1.6 million pounds of aluminum, there is a path to re-use of the site. “We have been contacted to consider specific operations like a ‘cold pour process’ in the current cast house that would use furnaces to melt the aluminum for re-molding stock, while another team has spoken to us about an entire smelting reuse.”
To even consider a resurrection of the historic smelter and its system, which remains fully intact today, a completely integrated plan with; new power, government backing and community support, would be essential.
Niagara Worldwide implements a global marketing team headed by Lee Rohlf of Lee Allan Advertising to reach every part of the aluminum industry. “My short order goal for Niagara Worldwide and the site owner Hannibal Development Partners, is to manage a conversation in a worldwide industry that includes data, details and a plan so that interested parties can understand exactly how readily available the assets and site are for redeployment of aluminum smelting or related businesses.”
Spirtas also mentioned a possibly larger site opportunity unrelated to the aluminum market. “We are in negotiations with three very large oil and gas service providers that work hand-in-hand with the oil drilling, gas processing and fuel transportation markets now imbedded in this region due to the Utica and Marcellus shale exploration.” If this effort works for the site there could be multiple uses for the 12 miles of rail, 50 barge docking port and pneumatic loading and unloading systems at the site.
NIAGARA Worldwide LLC continues to focus on its 11 other current developments across the United States and Europe, NIAGARA Worldwide LLC is re-purposing Manufacturing Facilities, BioFuels and Biomass Power Plants, as well as managing over 2 million square feet of warehouse and office space. NIAGARA Worldwide LLC acquires, manages, markets and sells for final disposition idle industrial property and assets around the world for its own account and for the benefit of other international companies.
