Virginia’s Musical Heritage Spread Over Four-Day Festival
Abingdon, VA (PRWEB) August 06, 2014 -- On September 25-28th, 2014, Heartwood will be filled with the sounds of rich history and musical heritage of Southwest Virginia at the Abingdon Crooked Road Music Fest, an annual music festival devoted to telling the story of The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail.
The festival features a guitar workshop at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday that includes performers Wyatt Rice and Claiborne Woodall. A workshop with the members of Close Kin is also scheduled for 12:30.
The four-day festival includes music performances, jams, workshops, and more! The music begins September 25th at 6:30 p.m. with The Crooked Road Thursday Night Jam, followed by a concert on Friday, September 26th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Raisin Cain and Hollow Ground. Saturday is a full day of music on two stages with The Blue Ridge Entertainers, Rice & Woodall, Wayne Henderson & Helen White, Johnny Williams & Friends and Close Kin as well as the headliner for Saturday evening, The Darrell Webb Band. Sunday, September 28th, the Sunday Gospel Showcase will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with Ron Ireland performing.
All festival events take place at Heartwood: Southwest Virginia’s Artisan Gateway off I-81 at Exit 14 in Abingdon, Virginia. Heartwood features food, music, and craft of Southwest Virginia.
