Summer Activities Keep San Luis Obispo Assisted Living Facility Residents Active and Engaged at the Manse on Marsh
San Luis Obispo, CA (PRWEB) August 06, 2014 -- The residents and guests at The Manse on Marsh in San Luis Obispo, CA have been keeping busy this summer welcoming family and friends traveling through the area and engaging in a slew of activities. As the hot days of August take over the California Central Coast, the Life Enrichment Team at The Manse have plans to keep their residents and guests active and engaged well into the fall and winter months.
In addition to the ongoing daily, weekly, and monthly activities at The Manse such as the book clubs, writers’ club, Bible study, and exercise classes, Life Enrichment Team members Jackie Edwards and Savannah Garcia regularly organize visits from various community members and outings in the local area.
In July, the residents enjoyed an outing to the Seven Sisters Quilt Show at Madonna Inn and a visit from the Central Coast Roller Derby gals. To celebrate the July 4th holiday Crustacea Jazz Band members brought along their brass to entertain residents during Happy Hour. Technology enthusiasts had the opportunity to have their most pressing questions answered when Cal Poly’s Ryan Blackston shared technology tips during a seminar.
Many of the residents at The Manse have had the chance to enjoy sailing the high seas and some have only dreamed of taking a boat cruise. During the week of August 11-15, the residents will set out on a virtual adventure to celebrate Cruise Week. Guests are encouraged to dress for each day’s outings at the various Ports of Call – Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Vallarta, Jamaica and Rio de Janiero. Families are invited to join in of the fun, including the Captain’s Dinner on the final day.
Additional upcoming activities at the Manse include:
• August 7: Blood pressure clinic
• August 9: Therapy Dogs, Inc – Bill Garrett will bring along Golden Retreivers, Cooper and Bailey
• Aug 21: Fire station tour & box lunch
• Sept 11: Blood pressure clinic
• Sept 25: Manse Staff Chili Cook-off
The special events and activities that are planned by the Life Enrichment Team and enjoyed by the residents and guest are what set The Manse on the Marsh apart from other senior communities – in fact, it is often referred to as “the most active senior community on the Central Coast.”
“The Manse is all about fun and excitement,” said Executive Director Gary Potts. “Our purpose is to enrich lives and, thanks to our tremendous staff, we are able to do this every day.”
