NCU Announces New Corporate Wellness Specialization
Scottsdale, Arizona (PRWEB) August 05, 2014 -- Northcentral University (NCU), a global online graduate school, announced today the launch of a new Corporate Wellness specialization in the University’s School of Education.
Cindy Guillaume, Ed.D., Dean of the School of Education, believes the addition of the Corporate Wellness Specialization adds more depth and breadth to the Master of Education program in the area of Adult and Global Education.
“We spoke with the presidents and CEOs of corporations about what they were looking for. We tried to tailor it to what the corporations are looking for,” said Dean Guillaume. “This degree will give students a specialization in the corporate sector that will make them more marketable.”
The four specialization courses cover health and wellness education concepts that address how to create an optimal mind, body and spirit approach to health and wellness through research and practice. The new specialization in the M.Ed. program took six-to-eight months to research, develop and create.
The eight-week, 12 credit specialization courses are:
• Wellness Coaching - Lifestyle Change: Students learn the fundamental theories related to research and practice in health education.
• Wellness Leadership and Professional Development: Students are introduced to leadership strategies and successful wellness programs developed by organizations.
• Business Aspects in Corporate Fitness and Wellness: Students are provided a strong foundation for understanding the positive financial implications of developing a corporate wellness program for an industry.
• Worksite Health Promotion: Students learn the fundamental theories related to research and practice in health promotion within the workforce.
The specialization is the 19th in the School of Education’s Master of Education program. In addition to giving students the opportunity to earn a degree tailored to a specific segment of the workforce, Pucci explained that the added program is a benefit to NCU’s portfolio.
