(PRWEB) August 05, 2014 -- In a new study entitled, 2014 U.S. Connected Devices End-user Survey, InfoTrends surveys over 1,400 U.S. consumers about their use of smartphones, tablets, and Internet-connected TVs for a variety of business and recreational tasks. This study provides an emphasis on photo related activities, to uncover what trends are developing in this marketplace.
InfoTrends has found that not only are a majority of consumers now using their smartphones as their primary camera for most everyday situations, but many are using them (and tablets) as portable computers for tasks that used to require a personal computer. InfoTrends suggests that developers adopt a “mobile” first strategy. New sites and services must be optimized for mobile devices from day one, or risk being dismissed by millions of users as outdated and irrelevant.
InfoTrends also suggests that vendors embrace the late adopters. Now that smartphones have achieved mainstream product status, many recent converts are consumers who describe themselves as late adopters of technology. The interests and workflow preferences of these users may be different from the early adopters that preceded them, and they may be more accustomed to printing photos. Vendors should target the photo printing market at these users, while ensuring that their services are easy to understand and easy to use.
InfoTrends’ 2014 U.S. Connected Devices End-user Survey provides a demographic comparison of various connected device users, explores their use of these devices, and considers the impact that these devices are having on more traditional computing and consumer electronics products. Manufacturers of connected devices as well as providers of complementary products and services can use the information in this report to stay competitive in this ever-changing market.
