Gervais Hearn Appointed Director of Development for September 11th Memorial/Greenwich
Greenwich, CT (PRWEB) August 05, 2014 -- The September 11th Memorial/Greenwich announced they have appointed Gervais Hearn as Director of Development. Hearn will be responsible for raising the funds needed to complete the project.
Mrs. Hearn had previously served as Director of Development at Christ Church, which just completed a successful $10 million Capital Campaign. She has also recently been appointed President of AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) Fairfield County Chapter.
“It is my honor to be working on this project. The families of the 9/11 victims with ties to Greenwich are so moved and honored that the Town of Greenwich and its residents are dedicated to building this Memorial, one that is majestic, yet serene and easily accessible all year long,” said Hearn.
Hearn will be raising the funds needed for the construction of the Memorial and endowment for future maintenance and educational programs. The Town of Greenwich has approved the design of two glass towers, which will stand along the water’s edge at the new Cos Cob Park, currently under development. The translucent glass towers will be etched with the names of those 32 with ties to Greenwich who were lost that day.
“We are very excited to have Gervais join our team. Since she came on board, we have seen a tremendous outpouring of support for the project from the community. Gervais’ leadership will allow this monument to become reality for generations to come,” said Co-Chair, Jimmy Ritman.
The September 11th Memorial/Greenwich is part of the Greenwich Community Projects fund, a 501 (c)(3). The memorial will honor the 32 people, with ties to Greenwich, who died on September 11th 20014.
