Through their Clinton Global Initiative Commitment to Action, Hobsons and Roadtrip Nation will distribute a unique college and career readiness curriculum tailored to underserved communities.

“Schools often do not have sufficient resources to meet every student’s individual needs. The curriculum addresses this challenge by providing a personalized, student-driven tool that covers a range of critical topics in each grade.

Roadtrip Nation, a career exploration organization based in Southern California, will work with Hobsons’ Naviance, a national career and college readiness platform, to launch a robust college and career exploration curriculum for students in grades 6-12. The partnership was formed as part of the organizations’ Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Commitment to Action around CGI America. CGI America is a branch of the Clinton Foundation that finds solutions to promote economic recovery in the United States.

Co-developed by Hobsons and Roadtrip Nation, the Naviance College and Career Readiness Curriculum is a blended learning solution that helps students build critical non-cognitive skills and college knowledge, instilling confidence so that they will persevere to reach their long-term academic and career goals. Throughout the easy-to-implement curriculum, students engage in self-reflective activities to explore different pathways and start planning their careers around their interests. Students are exposed to engaging video interviews with professionals and college students, allowing them to hear real-world advice about overcoming life’s challenges.

Roadtrip Nation’s co-founder Mike Marriner believes in the necessity of the service. “Schools often do not have sufficient resources to meet every student’s individual needs. The curriculum addresses this challenge by providing a personalized, student-driven tool that covers a range of critical topics in each grade, including setting smart goals, developing success skills, and planning for college.”

Although the curriculum is designed for all students, the CGI Commitment to Action will specifically target markets with large at-risk, low-income, minority populations, historically high dropout rates, and the highest student-to-counselor ratios.

Through the commitment, Roadtrip Nation and Hobsons plan to reach 30,000 students and support 50 overburdened counselors.
