ecobee today announced that Osama Arafat has joined the company as co-Chief Executive Officer.
As co-CEO, Osama will be responsible for leading the product strategy, engineering and customer care teams and will co-lead the organization with Stuart Lombard as the company prepares for strong growth as well as the introduction of a significant new smart thermostat product.

Prior to joining ecobee, Osama was the CEO of Q9 Networks, an organization that he helped build and establish as a leader in its field. Responsible for the Q9 Network’s growth strategy, Osama successfully raised private equity financing to fund the company’s expansion as well as led the company’s successful IPO in 2004. In 2012, Q9 Networks was acquired for $1.1 billion.
Prior to joining Q9 Networks, Osama worked with Stuart as a partner at J.L. Albright Venture Partners where they directed a number of emerging technology companies in Canada. In addition, Osama and Stuart previously co-led Isolation Systems, an award-winning manufacturer of VPN solutions that was acquired by Shiva Corporation, as well as co-founded an Internet Service Provider, which was sold to iSTAR in 1995.
