All individuals licensed as Florida Electrical Contractors must renew their license by Sunday, August 31, 2014. The Florida Division of Professions, Electrical Contractors' Licensing Board requires 14 hours of continuing education for each renewal cycle, and seven of the fourteen hours must be on Technical subjects. All 14 hours can be taken online: Florida Electrical Continuing Education.

Here are the steps to renewing a Florida Electrical Contractors’ license:

Step 1. Complete all 14 of the required Florida electrical continuing education hours. With JADE Learning, licensees can work on the courses at any time from any computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. The courses can be completed over the next few weeks, or the courses can be completed back-to-back in 14 hours. JADE Learning courses have the most updated Florida electrical continuing education content and instructor support is just a click away. After completing a course online, certificates can even be immediately emailed to a licensee's inbox.

Step 2. Wait for the hours to be reported to the Florida Division of Professions, Electrical Contractors' Licensing Board. JADE Learning reports Florida electrical continuing education hours electronically every business day. Email notifications are sent to licensees once the hours have been reported to the Board. The continuing education hours should post to the Board’s site within a day. Check the status of reported hours online at the Florida Division of Professions, Electrical Contractors' Licensing Board website.

Step 3. Submit the Florida license renewal form online. The required fee to renew an active Electrical Contractor license is $300 for Certified licenses and $125 for Registered licenses. There is a $50 late fee, so make sure to renew by the August 31st, 2014, deadline to keep an active license. Check the status of electrical licenses online at the Florida Division of Professions, Electrical Contractors' Licensing Board website.

After an individual's license has been renewed, he or she will be able to continue working as a Florida Electrical Contractor until the end of the next Florida license renewal cycle on August 31st, 2016. Count on JADE Learning to offer industry-specific, relevant courses that are well-written and engaging.
