Rochester, NY (PRWEB) August 08, 2014 -- “Infected with the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV)? The CBCD recommends taking Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD

Research shows that infections may play a role in chronic psychiatric illnesses such as schizophrenia, with the Herpes virus family. (4)

The CBCD’s latest survey found that 23% of participants wanted to know if an infection with the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) can lead to schizophrenia. The answer is yes. “Several studies suggest a link between early-life infection and adult schizophrenia.” (See Schizophrenia Research, from July 2014) (1) This is surprising since EBV is most commonly associated with infectious mononucleosis (the Kissing Disease). However, in recent years studies have increasingly linked the virus to mental disorders like schizophrenia. For example, Dr. Khandaker and colleagues wrote that “Early-life exposure to EBV is associated with PE (psychotic experiences) in adolescence, consistent with a role of infection/immune dysfunction in the aetiology (the cause) of psychosis.” (1) Dr. Khandaker is from the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge, UK. Another study conducted by two leading psychiatric researchers in 2010 found that “schizophrenics often carried antibodies for toxoplasma, a parasite spread by house cats; Epstein-Barr virus, which causes mononucleosis; and cytomegalovirus.” (See Discover Magazine, from June 2010) (2)

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that individuals infected with EBV take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR. The formula of these natural antiviral products was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against HSV and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with EBV…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (3) The study authors also wrote that, “We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (3) In addition, this natural antiviral was recently proven to reduce mental and physical fatigue in a post-marketing clinical study that followed FDA guidelines.

Both products can be ordered online on the Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR websites.

Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims.

“Research shows that infections may play a role in chronic psychiatric illnesses such as schizophrenia, with the Herpes virus family.” (See MedWireNews, Schizophrenia Research, 2011) (4)

How does EBV cause schizophrenia?

Scientists are not entirely certain. However, one theory suggests that viruses like EBV actually integrate with the genome (the genetic material) of those they infect. “The insertion of viral DNA into the human genome had until recently been thought to be the preserve of retroviruses. However the incorporation of DNA into mammalian genomes has recently been demonstrated on a large scale for both RNA and DNA viruses.” (See the Journal of Pathogens, from 2011) (5) EBV is a double stranded DNA virus. The result of the integration of EBV into the genome is that “upon infection, these pathogens are thus able to interfere with the function of their human counterparts in a number of ways.” (5) For example, “Repeated viral insertion could well explain copy number variations, which are associated with a number of diseases, including schizophrenia.” (5)

What treatments are available for EBV infections?

“A few antiviral drugs are available that were shown to inhibit EBV replication in cell culture. These drugs include the acyclic nucleoside analogues aciclovir, ganciclovir, penciclovir, and their respective prodrugs valaciclovir, valganciclovir and famciclovir, the acyclic nucleotide analogues cidofovir and adefovir, and the pyrophosphate analogue foscarnet. However, clinical studies have shown that these drugs are mostly ineffective in humans.” (2) There are also natural antiviral products that studies show to be safe and effective in reducing EBV symptoms. Two of these products are Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR.

“We recommend that individuals infected with the EBV virus, take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR. The formula of these natural products was designed to help the immune system target the latent Epstein Barr Virus.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD

Novirin shares the same formula as Gene-Eden-VIR. The difference between the two is that Novirin has higher quality, more expensive ingredients. The Novirin/Gene-Eden-VIR formula was tested in two post-marketing clinical studies published in September 2013 and March 2014, respectively, in the peer reviewed medical journal Pharmacy & Pharmacology.
