From tornados to wildfires, we had to make sure that the commercials speak to the needs and apprehensions of all viewers. We created the commercials with this dynamic messaging in mind, and so far, the response has been very positive.

Mag Instruments, the company behind iconic American brand MagLite flashlights, recently hired creative advertising and branding agency, Echo-Factory, Inc., located in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., to create and produce two MagLite brand television commercials. The commercials, currently in national broadcast rotation on The Weather Channel, are 15 and 20 seconds in length, respectively, and are part of a larger effort by Echo-Factory and Mag Instruments to deliver the MagLite message of Made in the U.S.A. quality and dependability to a new generation of flashlight users.
“The spots send a simple message,” said Echo-Factory principal Michael Schaffer. “MagLite flashlights will be there for you when you need them—because that’s the MagLite promise, and that’s what makes MagLite America’s favorite flashlight. They’ve been the consumer’s best choice for dependability since 1979—very few products have that kind of track record, and that is why we all love the brand.” View ad here.
Operating under extreme deadlines, Echo-Factory worked nonstop to produce the kind of commercial worthy of an international brand. A combination of still photography and computer-generated effects deliver the MagLite message in a modern way, while the visuals are designed to resonate with the national audience of The Weather Channel viewers.
Echo-Factory creative director Dea Goldsmith notes that writing specifically for The Weather Channel had its unique challenges. “Every region that The Weather Channel covers experiences its own weather events. From tornados to wildfires, we had to make sure that the commercials speak to the needs and apprehensions of all viewers. We created the commercials with this dynamic messaging in mind, and so far, the response has been very positive.”
The commercials will air on The Weather Channel throughout the summer and fall and can also be found in the work section of the Echo-Factory website at echo-factory.com.
