Just Between Friends (JBF) of Fort Worth, Texas’ largest children’s and maternity consignment sales event is once again hosting their popular semi-annual sale. This year’s fall event is dedicated to “saving the world one closet at a time.” DFW Metroplex families are encouraged to bring their gently used children’s and maternity clothing, toys, and equipment to the JBF Fort Worth sale to turn their discards into cash. Families are also encouraged to shop for their fall, winter, and holiday needs as a way to maximize their budgets while keeping still-useful items out of Metroplex landfills.
According to statics, Americans discard 68 pounds of clothes annually per capita while only recycling 10 pounds of clothing. Of these items, 99% of them can be recycled. Clothing makes up almost 5% of the total garbage in landfills.
Additionally as a vital event for Metroplex families, Just Between Friends Fort Worth is also announcing a new partnership with NewDay Services for JBF’s Wall of Wishes. This partnership provides for fractured families and their children during difficult times.
The semi-annual sale features thousands of items that include name-brand and boutique children’s fall, winter, and holiday attire; baby equipment, electronics, and toys.
In addition to benefiting NewDay Services, a portion of the sale proceeds as well as unsold merchandise is donated to local charities, Community Enrichment Center's Open Arms Program, Teen Lifeline and Fort Worth Metro.
For the “Wall of Wishes,” sale shoppers will be able to select cards off a wall that lists items that will be provided to client families of NewDay Services. Shoppers are able to fill bags provided by JBF at the sale to turn in when they finish shopping. Shoppers are able to write words of encouragement to recipients to be included with the gifts they have purchased for them.
JBF Fort Worth’s Family Fun Fest Indoor Carnival will once again be held on Saturday, September 6th. This indoor carnival features face painting, bounce house, crafts, and carnival games. This event is open to Metroplex families at no cost or need to purchase.
“This fall JBF Fort Worth’s theme is ‘Saving the World One Closet at a Time’," said Joanie Morrison, Owner, Just Between Friends of Fort Worth. With the millions of pounds of clothing and baby items that end up in landfills each year, we want to provide a vehicle for Metroplex families to be able to sell their gently used items to people who embrace buying second hand. It is such a win/win! Families not only pass on the items their children no longer need, they are able to make money at the same time. In turn, other families are standing by to purchase these items for use with their own families. Everyone wins! Especially those families who are able to outfit their families for the entire season at 50-90% less than retail pricing,” stated Morrison.
“There will be more shoppers than ever this season. Consignment shopping is here to stay,” remarked Morrison. “More people than ever are turning to consignment shopping whether it is to stretch their budget, for environmental reasons, or they just like scoring good deals.”
We are also excited to let the community know we are bringing back our Family Fun Fest Free Indoor Carnival on Saturday, September 6th,” said Morrison. People are able to come and spend the day with us without spending a penny shopping. There are carnival games, face painting, a bounce house, crafts, etc. This is our way of giving back to the community at JBF of Fort Worth!”
