New York, NY (PRWEB) August 07, 2014
Turner Construction Company is pleased to announce the Design Build Institute of America has recognized the Turner-PCL-Flatiron joint venture project team at San Diego International Airport with a National Award of Merit for Aviation.
The award recognizes the exemplary application of design-build project delivery that results in the achievement of best value while meeting design and construction quality, cost and schedule goals.
In announcing the prestigious award, the DBIA stated, “The cost of the project was reduced 10 percent from the original estimate due to collaborative value engineering that began in the concept validation phase and continued through completion. The fast track design-build approach allowed construction to start long before the terminal design was finished, with structural steel topping out four months before building permit approval. Modern design and construction techniques resulted in a LEED Platinum certification from the USGBC, exceeding LEED Silver certification targeted for the project.”
