Sally’s Cottages Moves Office to Top of Mountain to Encourage Brits to Get Outside
The Lake District, Cumbria (PRWEB UK) 10 August 2014 -- The outdoor-loving staff were fed up with looking at the lovely weather from inside a building, so they packed up and re-located their head office to the top of Blencathra mountain.
The Lake District business made the extreme move to encourage fellow Brits to get outside during the summer holidays and enjoy the simple pleasures of being outdoors.
The team from Sally’s Cottages, a holiday lettings agency with over 300 cottages across the Lake District, took their desk and office equipment up the 2,850ft-high mountain, which overlooks the Northern Fells in Cumbria. Desks, phones, lamps and computers were set up and staff settled in for business as usual.
Sally Fielding, the owner of Sally’s Cottages, hopes her recent office move to the unlikely location will help promote the natural beauty of the Lake District and will inspire others to go out and experience it.
Fielding said: “The idea started as a bit of fun. Anyone who works in an office will know that feeling that they’d rather be outside on a nice day. So we decided to take the desk by its edges, so to speak, and relocate.
“Blencathra is one of the Lakes most treasured mountains and has recently been at the centre of media attention after being put up for sale by its owner for £1.75 million. It made sense to show the landmark in all its glory – sheep and all – and make the bold move to take our office there for the day.”
The 39 year old, mum-of-three continued: “The National Trust recently revealed that children spend less than an hour outside a day and I believe this has a huge effect on their physical health and their mental wellness.
“I felt spurred to take action after reading this and I hope that our temporary office relocation will show all the free fun adventures that are on offer in Britain and will reconnect families with the wonders of the outdoors.
“Just being outside has a number of health benefits. It reduces our stress levels, enhances our learning and creativity skills and can increase our attentiveness.”
The Keswick-based company, whose staff pride themselves on being approachable and knowledge, celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. Further expansion is planned with new cottages to let and an expanding team of trained professionals on hand from 8am to 9pm seven days a week.
Sally’s Cottages has grown from an original investment of £1,000 in 2003 to having a turnover of £3 million today.
