Prince George's Community College Students Among 2014 Hispanic Achievement Scholarship Recipients

Largo, MD (PRWEB) September 08, 2014 -- It was announced this week that 35 Latino students attending 11 colleges and universities in Maryland will receive academic scholarships. Isiah Leggett, Montgomery County Executive, and the MCEHG Steering Committee, announced the initial list of the 2014 scholars who will be awarded at the Annual Montgomery County Executive Hispanic Gala, scheduled to take place at The Fillmore Silver Spring on Thursday, September 18, 2014, from 7-11 p.m.

“We received 149 applications from eight different counties throughout the State. The scholarship committee did an extraordinary job selecting an outstanding group of scholars who will benefit from this scholarship and will certainly give back to our community,” said Claudia Canales, 2014 Event Chair.

Each student will receive a one-time $2,000.00 scholarship. The list of those awarded includes:

The Montgomery County Executive Hispanic Gala will serve to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month in Montgomery County and the entire State of Maryland. The Gala brings together volunteer stakeholders and organizations that are committed to assisting Hispanic youth in achieving a high level of education.
