Announcement: Releases “Cool Diminished Guitar Lick - Lead Guitar Lesson on Diminished Lick”

Jon performs this lick over a G7 chord and demonstrates how to play it as follows; 5th fret of the 5th string with 3rd finger to the 4th fret of the 3rd string with 2nd finger to the 3rd fret of the first string with first finger to the 6th fret with 4th finger and then sliding up to the 9th fret. Next MacLennan follows that sequence with a chord based on tritones that consists of; 9th fret of the first string with 4th finger, 8th fret of the 2nd string with 3rd finger, 7th fret of the 3rd string with 2nd finger and 6th fret of the 4th string with first finger, played with one continues upstroke, and ending on the 8th fret of the 5th string with 3rd finger. Jon repeats the entire sequence starting from the 8th fret of the 5th string and finally ending on the 12th fret of the 4th string with 3rd finger and then resolving back to the G7 chord. The Diminished scale, or Octatonic scale, is a musical scale in which the notes ascend in alternating intervals of whole and half steps. In jazz this is often referred to as the whole-half scale. This scale is also often used in the Neo Classical genre.
