The Grand Arroyo Maui to Host Interior Design Showcase on North Shore
Haiku, HI (PRWEB) August 10, 2014 -- In response to requests from the leading architects and designers of Hawaii, The Grand Arroyo Maui is happy to announce the first annual Design Showcase to be held Nov 19, 2014. The goal is to introduce designers to the natural materials in the design of the home as well as to discuss how eco-friendly and handicap accessible design can be effectively blended with a luxurious and a very spacious one level floor plan. The Design Showcase is an industry walk through what one 10 year veteran interior designer on Maui has touted as “the most innovative and aesthetically sophisticated homes on the island.”
The goal of the Design Showcase is to expose designers to the use of natural minerals and semi-precious metals as an alternative to traditional synthetics. These include semi precious and precious metal leaf paneling, capiz shell from the Philippines in wall tiling applications, South African Calcite (Red Dragon Onyx) for bar and lighting applications, and local hardwoods like mango and Koa sustainably harvested for counter top and flooring and substantial use of mother or pearl and crystal throughout the property. Discussion will include a segment on interior gardens or terrariums built within living space as an alternative to skylights or light tubes.
There will also be a segment of the tour dedicated to Carbon Footprint Consciousness, a program initiated by The Grand Arroyo ownership to integrate energy saving measures on the property without compromising the luxury or the opulent use of the property. These include a tutorial of hot water hybrid systems adequate to satisfy the needs of multiple house guests, as well as a 14.5 kilowatt solar grid tie in system equipped on a designer terra cotta roof. It is the goal of the ownership of The Grand Arroyo Property to encourage other designers to integrate these earth friendly design initiatives into their properties. As the owner of the property indicates “eco design does not have to be about lower end materials like bamboo and rattan or even about sacrificing air conditioning or reliable power. With the right design decisions and high upfront investment these high end design can account for these concerns while providing any house guest with the absolute highest end luxury experience.”
There will also be a 30 minute discussion on the 5000 sq foot floor plan and the integration of both private and communal socializing space as well as sound insulation, theater and home electronics and thermal insulations.
Designers are asked to pre-register by Sept 1st, 2014. There is no cost to attend to members of the trade.
