Discovery K12 Announces Non-Common Core Curriculum for Homeschoolers
Monarch Beach, CA (PRWEB) August 11, 2014 -- Discovery K12 announces the release of its 2014-2015 non-Common Core curriculum.
The Common Core standards are one of the main reasons parents are choosing to homeschool their kids this fall. Common Core is a set of mathematic and English language arts standards that have received a backlash across America from parents, teachers, and educators. Currently, there are 43 states still signed on to use the Common Core standards.
Discovery K12 is an online homeschool platform and curriculum for kindergarten through twelfth grade. Its non-Common Core curriculum encompasses over 16,000 assignments across 90+ courses in seven subjects including Language Arts, Reading/Literature, Math, History/Social Studies, Science, Visual/Performing Arts, and Physical Education. Extra curriculum covers foreign language (Spanish), HTML Coding and Healthy Living.
Reading classic literature, writing essays, creating presentations, and conducting research are important aspects to the curriculum. A weekly spelling program, cursive, classic literature e-book library, quizzes and test, are also included.
It is getting more and more difficult to find a non-Common Core curriculum, and Discovery K12 is one of the few options available.
Discovery K12 is leading the way in providing best-in-class technologies and content directly to students. The company’s mission is to provide a positive, educational experience where students can acquire the skills to succeed throughout their life.
