MD Now Becomes First Florida Urgent Care Centers to Receive UCAOA Accreditation
West Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) August 12, 2014 -- MD Now Urgent Care, the leading and fastest growing urgent care company in Florida, announced today that it has received accreditation from the Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA), the national accreditation and certification program for the urgent care industry. MD Now first received certification from the association in 2009. The UCAOA represents the largest membership of urgent care centers and multi-disciplinary individuals working with and for the urgent care industry in the United States. MD Now Urgent Care Centers are the first and only Florida urgent care centers to receive this accreditation to date.
UCAOA Accreditation is the first of its kind to recognize not only the more traditional accreditation process of quality and safety, but also along with the UCAOA Certified Urgent Care Center designation, the scope of services provided meet urgent care center standards. UCAOA established its own program based on its objective to instill a greater focus on the uniqueness of the urgent care industry. The program demonstrates the urgent care industry’s commitment to offering a systematic and consistent approach to the assessment of the scope of care, level of quality and patient safety standards across the nation’s variety of urgent care centers.
“The urgent care industry is experiencing explosive growth and strong demand from consumers who want convenient, affordable and quality healthcare,” said Dr. Nate Newman, president of the UCAOA Board of Directors. “There is tremendous merit in evaluating the industry and striving for higher quality and standards of care. This accreditation process solidifies and builds upon our commitment to delivering the highest quality care whenever a patient visits one of our certified and accredited centers.”
“We are honored to have all of our urgent care centers be the first and only, in the state of Florida to meet the highest standards set by the UCAOA,” says Peter Lamelas, MD, MBA, CEO of MD Now Urgent Care. “Although we set our own bar high, it’s especially rewarding to be recognized by a respected independent organization with such stringent criteria. This confirms our commitment to providing comprehensive urgent care along with superior patient care.”
Under this accreditation program, urgent care centers are required to meet or, ideally, exceed UCAOA standards centered on key operational and clinical care matters, including patient safety, patient care processes, quality improvement, physical environment, health record management, facility governance, human resources, as well as patient privacy, rights, responsibilities and many other standards. These are measured through standards based, comprehensive on-site reviews and surveys administered by an independent third party with experience working in urgent care, interviews with patients and staff, and other qualitative and quantitative assessments. In addition to certification, and now accreditation by the UCAOA, all MD Now Urgent Care centers are also recognized by the state of Florida AHCA as, Licensed Urgent Care Facilities and accredited by the American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine.
