Clayton Homes is America’s Largest Homebuilder for 2013
Maryville, TN (PRWEB) August 12, 2014 -- As of June 2014, Clayton Homes has earned the title of America’s Largest Homebuilder for 2013*, as more than 25,000 families chose to purchase a Clayton Home over any other home in the nation. This is the second consecutive year the company has earned this honor.
The distinction is based on a comparison of the number of manufactured homes sold versus the number of site-built homes sold in 2013, as reported by Builder Magazine as well as the number of homes Clayton Homes shipped compared to all other manufacturers, as reported by the Manufactured Housing Institute.
“We are so proud that once again we are the largest homebuilder in America, providing homes to more families than anyone else,” said Kevin Clayton, CEO of Clayton Homes. “Our purpose statement is about opening doors to better lives. Though we did this more than any other home provider, I am more proud of the passion that our 12,000 team members have in making sure our customers enjoy a first class experience of home ownership. We are grateful to all of our loyal customers who have placed their trust in the value of a Clayton Home.”
What began as a small sales center in Eastern Tennessee in 1956 by an aspiring entrepreneur named Jim Clayton, Clayton Homes has grown over the decades to become a housing giant, building more than 1.5 million homes to date. Recognizing the success of the business, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway purchased Clayton Homes in 2003.
“The history of Clayton Homes is a unique story about the American Dream and what it meant to my father,” Clayton said. “The future of the housing market is looking brighter than ever. We constantly listen to what consumers want in their homes and provide them with homes for every budget and lifestyle. We’re excited about what is ahead for this company and will continue to strive for innovation and to be a leader in this industry.”
