SmartSearch® Updates EEOC/OFCCP Compliance Tracking and Reporting to Meet New VEVRAA Requirements
Oceanside, California (PRWEB) August 13, 2014 -- Advanced Personnel Systems, Inc. (APS) has made updates to its SmartSearch recruiting software in response to significant Equal Employment/Affirmative Action changes that went into effect this year for government contractors and subcontractors.
In 2013, the OFCCP (Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs) issued new regulations to update and expand VEVRAA (the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act), originally established in 1974 to protect returning Vietnam veterans from discrimination in employment, with additional data collection requirements from job applicants who are Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.
“A top concern right now for government contractors is successfully implementing the expanded VEVRAA regulations,” noted LJ Morris, CTO at SmartSearch, in an article posted on OpenReq, a premier hub for Human Resources and staffing professionals.
To meet the new VEVRAA tracking and reporting directives, SmartSearch was enhanced to include expanded EEO categorization for Veteran and Race status to help ensure the new regulatory data can effectively be captured and reported. This includes updates to its built-in compliance reports, a number of reminders and “helpers,” and Career Center integration, where SmartSearch incorporated several updates to meet the new Veteran & Disability self-ID requirements—clearly defining categories of “disabled veteran,” “recently separated veteran,” “active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran” and “armed forces service medal veteran.”
The new regulations went into effect starting in March 2014, and others are planned for this year. It has become more vital than ever for employers using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to have accurate reporting capabilities in order to create and maintain a compliant and fair recruiting process.
APS has long been dedicated to continual updates and advances in its software. “At SmartSearch, we’ve always been committed to helping our clients keep well ahead of the curve with changes in the recruitment field,” offers Doug Coull, CEO of APS. “And supporting compliance with EEOC/OFCCP regulations is a very important part of that.”
The SmartSearch® recruiting software is best known for the ability to seamlessly integrate with existing systems and applications for managing all employment-related information from one easy to use interface.
