Death of the Incandescent Light Bulb Mr. Electric® Has Four Modern Efficient Light Bulbs

Waco, Texas (PRWEB) August 12, 2014 -- Since Congress passed the Security Act of 2007, requiring 25 percent greater efficiency from traditional bulbs, companies have been working to increase the efficiency of light bulbs. The production of 75 and 100 watt bulbs were banned in 2012, and the production of 40 and 60 watt bulbs was banned in 2014.

An incandescent light bulb uses an electric current to heat a tungsten filament. This technique uses more energy to produce heat than it does light, putting a damper on the energy bill. Incandescent bulbs are seeing their end with innovations that are more efficient and last longer. Mr. Electric suggests four light bulbs to replace the traditional bulb.

Light Emitting Diode Bulbs (LED)
LED lights are encased in a solid material making them last longer than other bulbs and less susceptible to shock or vibration failure. A LED light can last up to 17 years and use much less electricity than the traditional bulb.

High Intensity Discharge Bulbs (HID)
HID lights emit light with an electrical discharge sent between two electrodes through an ionized gas. These bulbs are categorized by an additional gas used, mercury, sodium and metal halide. HID bulbs are highly efficient and have long lives. They are commonly used in gymnasiums, warehouses and streetlights.

Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFL)
CFLs are designed to replace incandescent bulbs with two different types: screw-in and plug-in. Screw-in CFLs work in existing screw sockets, and plug-in require a new socket. Both options come in a variety of wattages, sizes, and colors. These bulbs are efficient, have long lives and low cost.

Halogen
Halogen bulbs are incandescent lamps that use a halogen gas to increase light production and lifetime. These bulbs work as traditional bulbs do, along with the halogen cycle, making them more efficient with a better quality of light and longer lasting.

With the death of the incandescent light bulb, these choices on new light bulbs can save energy and last longer, keeping homes and offices bright for years to come.
