Prior to the release of acclaimed singer-songwriter Jon Allen’s new album, 'Deep River' on July 8th 2014, OK!Good Records launched the “Night & Day” Music Video Contest, giving aspiring filmmakers a chance to create the official music video for Jon Allen's lead single. As an independent label OK!Good Records wanted the contest to highlight and showcase the work of other independent artists from around the world and announced the contest via popular indie filmmaking site Indiewire.
The music videos were judged by Jon Allen and the staff of OK!Good Records based on originality, artistic interpretation, and filmmaking skills. The Top 3 entries earned their directors cash and camera prizes, along with their videos being featured on OK!Good’s official YouTube Channel.
The first place winning video was directed by nineteen-year-old film student Sean Wang from Fremont, California. Sean recently transferred from De Anza College and will be starting at the USC School of Cinematic Arts in the fall. In addition to making videos in his free time Sean is a wedding filmmaker and you can find more of his work on his YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/cameraderiesean.
In second place were directors Maura Hallisey and Patrick Myers, two freelance filmmakers and recent graduates of Connecticut College who continue to collaborate on projects outside of school. Third place was awarded to director Jennifer Heinen, originally from Switzerland. After learning the ropes from working on the set of shorts and feature films in Los Angeles, Jennifer began directing her own projects.
Jon Allen’s new album Deep River which features “Night & Day” is now available for purchase and free streaming on http://www.okgoodrecords.com. Fans can also find the album on iTunes, Amazon and at other major retailers.
