ChildCare Education Institute® (CCEI), a distance learning professional development and certificate provider, is proud to introduce CUR109: The School-Age Child Care Environment: General Guidelines for a High-Quality Out-of-School Program to the online child care training course catalog.
This course provides basic information about school-age child care. This includes recommended practices and guidelines for any type of care for children ages 5–15 outside the regular school setting, but for the most part it focuses on the afterschool environment. This course is designed with early childhood professionals in mind, i.e., people who spend most of their time working with young children but also work with school-age children in the afterschool environment. Course participants will learn to define school-age child care and identify recommended guidance principles and strategies for working with school-age children as promoted by School-Age Care Environment Rating Scales (SACERS).
“Afterschool programs are extremely important in the development and growth of children outside the classroom,” says Maria C. Taylor, President and CEO of CCEI. “This course offers strategies and guidelines to help create successful afterschool programs, while also providing key practices for relating to school-age children.”
This three-hour training course is available for online enrollment now, and awards 0.3 IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon successful completion.
