Lake Carolina Hosts 4th Annual “Shagging on the Shore” Community Event
Columbia, SC (PRWEB) August 12, 2014 -- The event hosted approximately 250 homeowners who were treated to an evening of fun that only the Lake Carolina lifestyle can offer. Residents wined, dined and danced the night away at Lake Carolina’s private lake house venue, conveniently located on the community’s natural shoreline. Guests enjoyed a complimentary and beautifully presented island feast prepared by “Scott Hall” catering. Drinks were provided by “Famously Frozen” and consisted of frozen, tropical treats such as frozen margaritas and daiquiris.
The event which started at 7pm was serenaded by the musical styling of the band “Java”. Guests danced all night to the rhythm of such songs as Under the Board Walk-Drifters and My Girl-Temptations. The beach music event is inspired by South Carolina’s state dance, “The Carolina Shag” which is said to have originated during the 40’s in Myrtle Beach. Lake Carolina homeowners come from all over the country and beyond, but it appears that once a "Lake Carolinian" they take to shagging as if they were born there.
The event has gained popularity in the past four years among Lake Carolina’s residents, in large part due to Lake Carolina’s very talented full time event director, Julia Burley. Julia Burley’s continued efforts in providing Lake Carolina residents an experience worthy of their beautiful community is nothing short of tireless. Having lead this particular event since its start in 2010, she shared her views as well as her motivations by saying “My favorite aspects of the event are seeing the residents of our community come together and get to make new friends from all of the neighborhoods within Lake Carolina or spend time with those who may live just down the street. I also love seeing everyone kick off their shoes and dance on our sandy beach under the moon light. It is no wonder that Lake Carolina is just as exciting a place to live, as it is a beautiful piece of property. It is expected that the Shagging on the Shore event will be here to stay for some time and compliments the numerous events that are held within the community annually."
