St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) August 13, 2014 -- A federal judge recently appointed Kristine Kraft, a partner at Schlichter, Bogard & Denton, LLP, to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee (PSC) in the Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) involving the manufacturers of low testosterone replacement therapies (Case Management Order No. 4, In Re: Testosterone Therapy Products Liability Litigation, Case No. 1:14-cv-1748, MDL No. 2545, N.D. Ill.). The Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois appointed Kraft to the PSC in July 2014. Kraft and other appointed co-counsel will be leaders in the national litigation involving victims who allege to have been seriously injured while using testosterone replacement therapies.
“We continue to hear from individuals who allege to have experienced life-threatening and serious injuries after using testosterone products,” says Kraft. “I am honored to have been appointed as a leader in this litigation and eager to fight for the rights of victims who allege suffering injuries after using these drugs.” The attorneys at Schlichter, Bogard & Denton, LLP are offering free and confidential case reviews to those who allege to have been injured after using testosterone products.
On January 31, 2014, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a Safety Announcement that it is investigating a potential link between testosterone use and stroke, myocardial infarction (MI), and death, as demonstrated by published studies. The first study that prompted the FDA’s Safety Announcement was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in November 2013 and suggested that testosterone replacement drugs may increase the risk of heart attack, stroke and death. The second study, published in the online journal PLos ONE on January 29, 2014, concluded that older men, and younger men with pre-existing diagnosed heart disease, have an increased risk of heart attack following initiation of testosterone therapy.
