Griffith Tutoring Selects BenchPrep and their ACT Program to Add Online and Mobile Learning Technology to Their High School Tutoring Curriculum

BenchPrep is pleased to announce a partnership with Griffith Tutoring to bring personalized online and mobile ACT prep courses to students participating in their tutoring programs. The courses will be used as a supplement to Griffith’s current in-person tutoring curriculum starting in September this year.

“We had the unique privilege of getting to know Benchprep and its staff over the last year, thanks to our working in such close proximity. After meeting the staff, we got a chance to take a look at the software itself. Their software, along with being incredibly user-friendly, offers students a variety of education-related activities within one database. Students can take practice tests, watch lessons, and even play games that help them enhance their skills on the ACT,” says Emilie Weinheimer of Griffith Tutoring. “BenchPrep's software will be used and integrated into our tutoring sessions, under the supervision of our tutors, and will allow Griffith students to receive both strategy and skill-based test prep. Given what our students' needs are, we want to have a lot of resources that target kids at every level.”

The BenchPrep platform provides students with personalized curriculum, interactive assessments, engaging games and valuable analytics that improve student proficiency in core math and language arts, subject areas tested on the ACT and other college readiness benchmarks. The program itself is built to boost student engagement using game mechanics, social collaboration and real time feedback. Their teacher facing application also provides instructors and tutors the ability to easily monitor student performance and engagement.

Griffith Tutoring offers a biannual six-week free ACT prep tutoring program to low-income students in the city of Chicago. By partnering with local business and training employees to serve as ACT tutors, Griffith is able to provide individualized test prep to students who have college ambitions but who lack the resources for private, individualized ACT prep. Griffith targets a specific sub-set of students, those who consistently score between a 15-18, and partners with the city’s high schools to bring these students into the loop on a weekly basis for ACT tutoring.

At their cores, BenchPrep and Griffith Tutoring have parallel missions: to provide quality educational opportunities to the masses, particularly to those who cannot afford other test prep services, in order to create increased opportunities through education.

This partnership will allow Griffith to offer Chicago's low-income high school students a robust skill and strategy-based prep that is adapted to the new computer-based landscape of the ACT while giving BenchPrep beneficial data and insight into student learning patterns and performance over time. Griffith will continue to provide students with the invaluable support of direct mentorship and exposure to the professional sphere in a way that illustrates the link between college and the ACT.

“Griffith is incredibly excited to have the opportunity to offer this incredible resource to it’s students. We are really looking forward to seeing this partnership come to fruition over these next 6 months!”
