Poison Prevention Week Council Announces Poster Contest Winners
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) August 13, 2014 -- The Poison Prevention Week Council announced the winners of the 2015 National Poison Prevention Week poster contest.
National Poison Prevention Week, held the third week in March each year, is observed nationally to highlight the dangers of poisonings and how to prevent them. In honor of this awareness week, the Poison Prevention Week Council conducts a nationwide poster contest to educate the public about the dangers of poisonings and the importance of poisoning prevention. The winning poster in each division will be featured on the 2015 National Poison Prevention Week posters. First, second and third place winners in each division will be posted on http://www.poisonprevention.org.
Posters were submitted from schools around the nation with the winners chosen from Alabama, Florida and the Virgin Islands. One winner was selected in each of the three divisions: grades kindergarten through two; three through five; and six through eight.
The winners of the 2015 National Poison Prevention Week Poster Contest are as follows:
• Kindergarten through second grade: Aaliyah Francis, Wesleyan Academy, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands
• Third through fifth grade: Elizabeth Hernandez, Keller Intermediate School, Macclenny, Florida
• Sixth through eighth grade: Ange Long, Discovery Middle School, Jacksonville, Alabama.
Winners were selected based on creativity, design and poisoning prevention messages.
“The poster contest inspires creativity around the topics of home safety,” said Nancy Bock, Poison Prevention Week Council Chair. “We believe that involving students in creating artwork for National Poison Prevention Week meaningfully engages them at a very early age about safety in the home.”
Starting September 2014, posters can be ordered through the Poison Prevention Week Council website: http://www.poisonprevention.org.
