Lehi, Utah (PRWEB) August 13, 2014 -- Principal photography began last week on Waffle Street, a dramedy starring James Lafferty (One Tree Hill, Oculus, S. Darko) and Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon 1-4, The Color Purple, Dreamgirls). Joining Lafferty and Glover is Julie Gonzalo (Dallas, Eli Stone, Christmas with the Kranks), who will play Lafferty’s wife, Becky Adams.
Waffle Street is based on the true story of James Adams (James Lafferty), who finds himself a fish out of water as he jumps from the white-collar world of Wall Street to waiting tables at a waffle shop. Amid the greasy madness of the 24-hour diner, James befriends Edward Collins (Danny Glover), an ex-con grill master who serves up hard lessons about life, finance, and grits.
Other well-known talent includes Dale Dickey (Iron Man 3, Super 8, The Pledge), Marshall Bell (Total Recall, Rescue Dawn, Stand by Me), and William Knight (Ghost in the Shell, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Akira).
Recognizable Utah faces joining the cast include Ernie Lively (American Pie 2, Passenger 57, Turner & Hooch), Adam Johnson (Frozen, Veronica Mars, Vamp U), Maclain Nelson (The Saratov Approach, Vamp U, Moving McAllister), and Michael Flynn (Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, The Best Two Years, Everwood).
Screenwriter Autumn McAlpin optioned the memoir and will produce along with John J. Kelly (Divergent, 127 Hours, Warrior, Madea’s Witness Protection) and Brad Johnson (Vamp U, Friend Request, Dawn of the Dragon Slayer). Brothers Eshom and Ian Nelms, who penned the script along with McAlpin, will direct.
Eshom and Ian Nelms are repped by UTA. Autumn McAlpin is repped by Paradigm. The producers are in talks with distributors.
Utah locals are invited to join in the production as extras through August 30. Interested individuals should email their name, contact information, and availability along with a candid headshot to wafflestreetmovie(at)gmail(dot)com.
