Make Way for Ducklings Storytime Store to Open in Faneuil Hall
Boston, MA (PRWEB) August 18, 2014 -- For more than 70 years, Make Way for Ducklings has been a magical part of children’s experience in Boston, and in mid-September, the Make Way for Ducklings pop-up store will open in Faneuil Hall with a grand opening celebration slated for early October. Catering to children, the store—the only one in the country with exclusive licensing for the theme—will celebrate the Make Way for Ducklings book and other internationally recognized children’s authors with local ties to Boston.
The first Faneuil Hall area children’s bookstore, Make Way for Ducklings store will feature a charming and whimsical selection of books, toys and exclusively produced and licensed branded gift items. Created by the owners of the World’s Only Curious George Store in Harvard Square, the new store aims to create a uniquely themed, magical experience for the state’s most well-loved characters.
“We’re very excited bring our unique children’s book-themed store concept to Faneuil Hall and bring the characters of Make Way for Ducklings to life," says owner, Adam Hirsch. “We look forward to welcoming local families and those visiting the Boston area to experience our fun, interactive, one-of-a kind destination store in Faneuil Hall.”
The store’s title book, Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey, was first published in 1941 and has had a prominent place on children’s bookshelves ever since. The Caldecott Medal award-winner tells the story of mallards that raise their ducklings in the Boston Public Garden lagoon. The ducklings are immortalized by bronze statues in the Garden created by Sculptor Nancy Schön and are a worldwide attraction for the city.
The store will also feature books and merchandise around books and authors connected with the Boston area including: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, Busytown books by Richard Scarry, Curious George books by HA & Margret Rey and Dr. Seuss books. The store is located at the end cap of the North Market Building in the old Orvis space at 8 North Market Building, Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Boston, MA.
