D.C. Home Buyers See Less Competition in Late Summer
(PRWEB) August 14, 2014 -- Prospective D.C. area home buyers will see less competition in the real estate market this August, since many competitive buyers are enjoying the final weeks of summer out of town. When looking at the July 2014 real estate statistics, the close-in D.C. area experienced a nine percent increase in dollar volume of sales, a two percent increase in average price and a 16 percent increase in days on the market over July 2013.*
These numbers are consistent with a slight decrease in the competitiveness of this high-demand market, which means buyers have a rare opportunity to place a bid on a home with relatively little competition.
“Buyers should take advantage of these next few weeks while many of their competitors are out on vacation,” says Donna Evers, president and broker of Evers & Co. Real Estate, the largest independent, woman-owned real estate firm in metro Washington. “If buyers decide to wait until the fall to buy, they may find they missed a golden opportunity.”
Mortgage rates are also continuing to decline, according to Evers, which means the market is looking bright for prospective buyers, despite low inventory conditions across the Washington, D.C. region.
