The Fierce Innovation Awards: Telecom Edition is an operator-reviewed awards program from the publishers of FierceWireless, FierceTelecom and FierceCable. The program is designed to recognize companies that are on the cutting edge of innovation and that are creating products and services that help address critical challenges facing service providers.
Jason Nelson, Telecom Group Publisher, says, “This is our third year producing the Telecom Innovation Awards. The online submission process is now open so that companies may submit their product or service for review. There are eighteen distinct product categories under the umbrellas of Pay-TV, Advanced-TV and Video Networks; Wireless Networks; Wireline Networks; and Network Support, Software and Service Delivery.
Each application will be evaluated by a diverse group of executives from global operators. The judges’ panel currently includes: Ralph Brown, CTO, Cable Labs; Cameron Coursey, VP of Product Development, AT&T's Emerging Devices Organization; Mattias Fridström , VP & Head of Technology, TeliaSonera International Carrier; Robert Gessner, President, MCTV; Daniel Gurrola, Vice-President, Strategy and Business Vision, Orange; Andrew Ip, Senior Vice President of Infrastructure and Wireless Technology Management, Cablevision System Corporation; Tom Nagel, SVP and GM of Wireless, Comcast; Marci Saaijenga, VP, Technology Quality & Control, Cox Communications; and Jack Tang, Executive Director, Corporate Technology, Verizon.
Judges will evaluate submissions based on the following criteria: technology innovation, financial impact, market validation, compatibility with existing network environments, end-user customer experience, and overall level of innovation.
The deadline to apply is Friday, October 3, 2014. Winners will be announced by during a live webcast on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 2PM ET.
