Department of the Army, Army Contracting Command, ACC – Warren, MI for 3,000,000 C2A1 war gas filters.
Immediate Response Technologies (IRT), LLC is an ISO 9001:2008 manufacturer of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) defense and U.S. military, first receiver, first responder, law enforcement and emergency management equipment and solutions. Owned by Severn Partners, LLC of Annapolis, MD, IRT manufactures thermal targets and materials, a series of industrial and other CBRN filters, a range of powered-air purifying respirators (PAPRs) and multiple configurations of rapidly deployable, articulating-frame shelters for a series of applications. IRT serves every U.S. military branch, the U.S. National Guard, FBI, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of State, FEMA, the U.S. Marine Corps CBIRF teams and many other like units.
IRT has manufactured just over 2,000,000 C2A1 filters for the U.S. Army from 2006 to 2011, and looks forward to serving the Army once again in this capacity. The C2A1 canister is a component of mask system that filters ambient air to the user. Toxic liquid and solid materials are removed from the air via a high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) grade filter media. A bed of activated carbon then removes appropriate gas-phase toxins downstream. The combination of these two filter mechanisms filters out all known Chemical Biological (CB) warfare agents, toxins and radioactive fallout particles. IRT intends to resume production of the U.S. Army’s C2A1 filter beginning with First Article Testing late in 2014.
IRT, in serving the Department of Defense, first responder, and commercial markets, holds a series of NIOSH approvals on its PAPRs and filters, including approvals for its CBRN CAP1 filter and PAPR system in various positive and negative pressure face-piece configurations and a Flex-Air commercial PAPR with industrial filter approvals in loose fitting hood configurations. Given world events and global crises during the summer of 2014, IRT has been increasing production in order to support customer needs for both individual and collective isolation, decontamination and expeditionary medical solutions in places such as the United States/Mexico border, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the U.S. State Department at large.
