Breakthrough Medical App Delivers Comprehensive Assessment of Speech-Language Disorders
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 20, 2014 -- CASE, a speech pathology app created by Comprehensive Application Solutions Inc., officially launched in the iTunes store this week for the iPad, making reporting easier than ever for specialists. CASE is designed for Speech-Language Pathologists working with adults (home care, private practices, rehabilitation facilities) to assist in performing a screening and evaluation of patients, and to provide a complete analytic look at speech and language functions.
“Currently, there are no tests or screeners available as an app that provides a comprehensive and detailed examination of speech-language disorders. I wanted to create an app that not only assesses these disorders, but also efficiently writes reports and calculates accuracy as the test progresses. With the help of Blue Whale Apps and Jess Faro Design, we were able to do so,” says Christine Miroddi, founder of CASE.
CASE serves as a guide for speech therapists to gather baseline data of the patient’s current speech functions, screen for any abnormalities, and obtain an overall justification for continued need for evaluation or treatment. Each test in the app delivers a breakdown in performance including accuracy independently, accuracy with cueing, and the percentage incorrect. Upon assessment completion, therapists can print, email, or send the patient’s report to Dropbox.
“No apps evaluate as conclusively as mine will. I’m hoping that CASE will make the lives of speech pathologists easier in terms of saving time, gathering valuable data, and carrying less. The report can be completed from the app before you leave the patient’s bedside. CASE also calculates and records the patient’s capabilities that can later be analyzed and used to develop specific goals and care plans. You also don’t need to worry about forgetting a test or a protocol; everything you need is already in the app,” says Christine.
